The Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring and managing computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining system efficiency, and executing scheduled tasks like data backups and system updates.
Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring and Operation:
- Monitor computer systems, servers, and network operations for performance issues or malfunctions.
- Ensure all systems and processes run efficiently and troubleshoot as necessary.
- Respond promptly to system alerts and user-reported issues.

Maintenance and Updates:
- Perform regular system maintenance, including software updates and hardware checks.
- Ensure scheduled backups of data and verify the integrity of stored information.
- Maintain and service peripheral devices like printers, scanners, and storage devices.

Troubleshooting:
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical problems with systems and applications.
- Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level IT staff when necessary.

System Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and incidents.
- Document operational procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.

Support and Communication:
- Provide support to end-users by addressing technical queries and concerns.
- Coordinate with other IT team members to resolve issues and improve system performance.

Scheduled Operations:
- Execute batch processing jobs and system workflows as per defined schedules.
- Ensure timely processing of business-critical tasks such as data uploads and report generation.

Security and Compliance:
- Monitor for unauthorized access and ensure compliance with IT security policies.
- Report any security breaches or potential risks to the IT team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is a plus).
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in computer operations or IT support.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, or Unix).
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and system software.
- Basic knowledge of scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Shell scripting) is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
