The Computer Operator will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operation of computer systems and networks. This role involves monitoring system performance, running routine tasks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally.
Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring:
- Monitor computer systems, networks, and related equipment.
- Ensure systems are running smoothly and efficiently.

Routine Operations:
- Perform scheduled tasks, such as backups, batch processing, and system updates.
- Manage and prioritize job queues and workflows.

Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve system errors and hardware/software malfunctions.
- Escalate issues to appropriate technical staff when necessary.

Data Management:
- Ensure the integrity and security of data during processing.
- Perform data backups and recovery operations.

Documentation:
- Maintain logs of system performance, errors, and maintenance activities.
- Update procedural documentation as needed.

System Maintenance:
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software.
- Apply system patches and updates.

User Support:
- Provide first-level support to users experiencing technical issues.
- Assist users with basic troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Security:
- Monitor system security and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Implement and enforce security protocols and procedures.

Performance Optimization:
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
- Implement performance tuning measures.

Disaster Recovery:
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Ensure systems can be restored in the event of a failure.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a computer operator or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with various operating systems (e.g., Windows, UNIX, Linux).
- Knowledge of computer hardware and peripheral devices.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts.
- Proficiency in using monitoring and management tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
