We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Computer Operator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of computer systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and providing technical support as needed.
Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring: Monitor computer systems, servers, and networks to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
- Job Scheduling: Execute and monitor batch processing jobs, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
- Hardware Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on computer systems and peripherals, including troubleshooting hardware issues.
- Software Installation and Updates: Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems.
- Data Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain data backup procedures to ensure data integrity and facilitate recovery in case of system failures.
- Security Management: Monitor and enforce security protocols to safeguard computer systems and data.
- User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, assisting with hardware and software issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals to address complex technical issues and contribute to system improvements.
- Emergencies: Respond to system emergencies outside of regular working hours as needed.
- Training: Train end-users on basic computer operation and assist in promoting IT best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or degree in Computer Science is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Computer Operator or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software applications.
- Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and basic networking concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Good communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work during non-business hours for system maintenance and emergencies.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures.
