The Computer Operator is responsible for performing various computer-related tasks to ensure the smooth operation of computer systems and peripherals. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Job Responsibilities:
System Monitoring: Monitor computer systems and peripherals for errors, malfunctions, and performance issues, and take appropriate actions to resolve or escalate problems as needed.
Data Entry: Input data into computer systems, databases, spreadsheets, or other applications accurately and efficiently, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
Batch Processing: Execute batch processing jobs, including data backup, file transfers, and system updates, according to predefined schedules and procedures.
Print Operations: Manage print queues, schedule print jobs, and troubleshoot printing issues to ensure timely and accurate printing of documents and reports.
Job Scheduling: Schedule and prioritize computer jobs, tasks, and processes to optimize system performance and resource utilization, using job scheduling software or manual procedures.
System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning computer equipment, replacing printer cartridges, and updating software applications, to ensure optimal system functionality.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software problems, including network connectivity issues, peripheral malfunctions, and application errors, to restore normal operations.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of computer operations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, for reference and training purposes.
User Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, including answering questions, resolving problems, and guiding users on the proper use of computer systems and applications.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with security policies, data privacy regulations, and industry standards, by following established procedures and protocols for data handling and system access.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in computer science, information technology, or a related field is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computer systems, operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Data Entry Skills: Fast and accurate typing skills with a high level of attention to detail to enter data quickly and error-free.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve computer-related issues independently or with minimal supervision.
