The Computer Operator is responsible for the monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting of computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure. This role ensures the smooth and efficient operation of computer systems and is vital to maintaining the performance and integrity of company IT services.
Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring:
- Monitor computer systems, servers, and network performance.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and ensure optimal system performance.
- Monitor batch processing and job schedules, ensuring all processes are completed on time.

System Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, software updates, and patch management.
- Coordinate with IT staff to resolve technical issues and implement system enhancements.

Troubleshooting and Support:
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Provide technical support to end-users and address their computing needs.
- Document issues and resolutions to maintain a knowledge base.

Security and Compliance:
- Implement and follow security protocols to protect data and maintain system integrity.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to security incidents and breaches promptly.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of system operations, issues, and resolutions.
- Generate and review logs and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management on system performance and incidents.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with IT staff, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective system operations.
- Communicate effectively with users, providing clear and concise information and instructions.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) are a plus.

Experience:
- Proven experience as a Computer Operator, IT Technician, or similar role.
- Experience with various operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and enterprise software applications.

Skills:
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Physical ability to lift and move computer equipment as necessary.
