A Hotel Receptionist is the face of the hotel, responsible for providing a warm and professional welcome to guests, managing check-ins and check-outs, handling reservations, and assisting with inquiries to ensure a positive guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Relations
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide a friendly check-in and check-out experience.
- Address guest inquiries, complaints, or special requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Offer information about the hotel’s amenities, services, and local attractions.
- Manage guest feedback and escalate issues to the appropriate department if needed.
Reservations and Front Desk Operations
- Handle room bookings via phone, email, or online platforms, ensuring accurate data entry.
- Confirm reservations and manage cancellations or modifications as per policy.
- Allocate rooms and ensure they meet guest preferences or special requests.
- Maintain records of room availability and guest accounts using property management systems (e.g., Opera, Fidelio, or Amadeus).
Administrative Duties
- Process payments, issue invoices, and manage the cash register.
- Maintain a log of guest activities and coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance departments.
- Ensure all front desk supplies are stocked and organized.
- Adhere to hotel policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in multiple languages is an advantage.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with reservation systems and basic office software (e.g., MS Office).
- Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, patient, and customer-focused attitude.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle guest issues tactfully and efficiently.
- Organizational Skills: Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Appearance: Maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance.
Work Environment
- Front desk operations within the hotel lobby.
- Shift-based work schedule, including weekends, holidays, and late-night shifts as needed.
Salary Expectations
- Typically ranges between ?12,000 to ?30,000 per month in India, depending on the hotel’s size, location, and star rating.
