The Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling computer systems and networks to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of data. This role involves operating computer systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks. The Computer Operator ensures the continuous operation of systems and helps in supporting the IT department with various tasks.
Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring:
- Monitor computer systems and network operations to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify, respond to, and resolve system alerts, errors, and malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Monitor system backup processes and ensure data integrity.

Data Processing:
- Execute and manage scheduled batch jobs, data processing tasks, and automated workflows.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of data processing tasks.

System Maintenance:
- Perform routine system backups, data archiving, and recovery procedures.
- Update and maintain system software, applications, and databases as required.
- Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware components.

Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the IT support team or relevant personnel.
- Provide basic troubleshooting support to end-users as needed.

Documentation:
- Maintain detailed logs of system operations, issues, resolutions, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare and update operational procedures and documentation.
- Document and communicate system changes and updates to relevant teams.

User Support:
- Provide technical assistance to end-users regarding system operations and issues.
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer systems and peripherals.

Security:
- Implement and follow IT security protocols and procedures.
- Monitor system access and usage to detect any unauthorized activity.
- Report and address any security breaches or vulnerabilities.

System Upgrades:
- Assist in the planning and execution of system upgrades and enhancements.
- Test new software and hardware installations to ensure compatibility and functionality.

Collaboration:
- Work closely with other members of the IT department to support overall system operations.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure their IT needs are met.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Computer Operator or in a similar IT role.
- Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, UNIX) and software applications.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and network systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends if required
