1. Client Assessment: Conduct initial assessments and evaluations to understand clients' needs, concerns, and goals. Gather relevant information about clients' backgrounds, personal histories, and presenting issues to develop personalized treatment plans.

2. Counseling Sessions: Provide individual, group, or family counseling sessions to clients using evidence-based therapeutic approaches and techniques. Help clients explore and understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills.

3. Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention to clients experiencing crisis situations, such as suicidal ideation, self-harm, or acute emotional distress. Provide crisis counseling and facilitate access to emergency services or resources as needed.

4. Psychoeducation: Educate clients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and self-care strategies. Provide information on topics such as stress management, relaxation techniques, communication skills, and healthy lifestyle habits.

5. Referrals and Coordination: Collaborate with other mental health professionals, healthcare providers, social services agencies, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care for clients. Make referrals to specialists or additional support services as appropriate.

6. Documentation and Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and session summaries in accordance with ethical and legal standards. Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and confidentiality policies.

7. Counseling Ethics: Adhere to professional ethics codes, standards of practice, and legal regulations governing counseling services. Uphold principles of confidentiality, autonomy, and non-discrimination in all interactions with clients.

8. Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, research findings, and best practices in the field of counseling through ongoing training, workshops, and professional development activities. Seek supervision and consultation as needed to enhance clinical skills and competencies.

9. Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and interests within the healthcare system, educational institutions, workplaces, and other settings. Help clients navigate complex systems and overcome barriers to accessing necessary services and resources.

10. Self-care: Prioritize self-care and maintain personal well-being to prevent burnout and maintain effectiveness as a counselor. Practice mindfulness, self-reflection, and stress management techniques to manage the emotional demands of the job.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• State licensure or certification as a professional counselor (LPC), clinical social worker (LCSW), psychologist, or marriage and family therapist (LMFT) preferred.
• Proven experience providing counseling services to diverse populations in a clinical or therapeutic setting.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate accurate treatment plans and interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic alliances with clients.
• Empathy, compassion, and nonjudgmental attitude towards clients' experiences, feelings, and beliefs.
• Knowledge of counseling theories, modalities, and techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.
• Familiarity with ethical and legal guidelines governing counseling practice and professional conduct.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems or counseling software for documentation and record-keeping.
